SIHA Announces Dates For Youth World Division Tournaments

SIHA is gearing up to start its' next season of elite competition in the Youth World Division.  All players who wish to play in the Youth World Division will be evaluated, and if chosen, placed on team rosters in March.  The evaluation dates are scheduled to coincide with SIHA Club tournaments, which are already being played in the same age group.  Here are the dates for the Youth World Evaluations:

         17 & Under  (February 18-19)

         14 & Under  (March 3-4)

         12 & Under (March 10-11)

         10 & Under (March 3-4)

Once the team rosters have been filled, Youth World Division play will begin.  The division consists of a series of 6 tournaments.  The Youth World Division tournament dates are as follows:

March 23-25                        Rocky Mountain Wars at CET Sports Inline Hockey Arena

April 6-7                               Either CET Sports or Qdoba Events Center (Ft. Collins)

April 27-29                           At Qdoba Events Center (Ft. Collins)

May 25-27                            CET Sports Inline Hockey Arena

June 8-10                              SIHA-NARCh Regional Qualifier at CET Sports

June 14 - July 1                    RC Invitational at CET Sports

From these tournaments, players from various Youth World Teams in each age group will be selected to play on the Junior Mudcats.  The Junior Mudcats teams will then have the opportunity to travel to San Jose, CA and compete in the NARCh Finals.

SIHA's mission with the Youth World Division is to provide a setting for all players to continue improving their level of play.  All players chosen for Youth World teams will be placed on teams to create the most competitive environment possible.  All coaches for these teams will be selected based on their experience level and past success, and teams will be expected to practice weekly.  The Junior Mudcats will be coached by CJ Yoder and Jon Ingrum.

SIHA's new partnership with NARCh will allow SIHA Youth World Division teams to compete in a NARCh Regional Qualifying Tournament, June 8th-10th, at the CET Sports Inline Hockey Arena in Colorado Springs, CO.  By qualifying through the SIHA-NARCh Regional tournament, Youth World players will be eligible to compete at NARCh Finals this summer in San Jose, CA.  The NARCh Finals is the largest annual inline hockey tournament in the United States, and will run from July 13th through July 27th.  For more information on the NARCh Finals and other events, please visit their website at www.narch.com.

SIHA League and Tournament Tie Breaker Formula

SIHA is now using a "Pond Hockey" tie breaker system for all recreation leagues and club tournaments.  The way the system works is teams will get 3 points for a win, and 0 points for a loss.  There are no tie games, therefore a winner must be determined for each game.  The tie breaking process will proceed as follows:

    1. Teams will be ranked based on their points for wins and losses.
    2. If there is still a tie in the standings, the scoring goes to least goals allowed.
    3. If there is still a tie in the standings, the scoring goes to most goals scored.

    * Head-to-head will no longer be used in the tie-breaking process.
**Check at the front desk for the official standings during all tournaments.
